Mr. Geyer lived most of his life in the Attica area. He was a member of the 751 Tank Battalion. He served in World War II from 1941-1945, spending most of his service time in Northern Africa, Italy, France and England. He received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with a Silver Service Star; Good Conduct Medal, and the Defense Service Medal. He started work on the B&O Railroad in 1946 and retired in 1979. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Railroad Union; First Baptist Church; Kwanis Club in Tiffin; Golden Arches Club; and life member of the American legion Post 260 of Attica.

John was a 1979 graduate of Calvert High School, where he was a football letterman. He attended Kent State University and Campbell University in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1984-1987, where he was an Army Ranger and member of the Army Airborne Division. John worked as corporate and medical recruiter following his time in the military.
John loved history, music, and sports. He was an avid reader, especially relating to the U.S. Civil War and WWII, and enjoyed visiting historical sites, at home and abroad. He loved to sing, and also enjoyed following his beloved Michigan Wolverines football and basketball teams.
